How are Kathi Kunterbunt fabrics properly processed and cared for
What needs to be taken into account when cutting?
Fabrics that you have produced yourself should definitely be washed before cutting or sewing, as they often shrink a little after the first wash due to the high cotton content, which means that they may no longer fit properly after drying. The intensity of this effect can vary depending on the quality of the fabric.
When cutting, the thread direction should generally be taken into account. To do this, hold the fabric at opposite corners, carefully pull it apart and observe how the fabric behaves. The aim is to have elasticity across the width of the garment so that the self-sewn clothing fits well and moves well.
Before cutting, you should also consider where you want the motif to be seen and how the motif should be aligned so that it does not end up upside down or only half visible, for example.
What do I have to consider when sewing Kathi Kunterbunt's own productions?
Depending on the material chosen, our own fabrics can be sewn and processed using either a standard sewing machine or an overlock machine. For French terry fabrics and jersey, we recommend jersey sewing needles, which are also available in our shop, as these cause less damage to the structure of the fabric due to the rounded needle tip.
What should be taken into account when caring for your own fabric production?
To preserve the colors and shape, we recommend washing the fabrics by hand or on a gentle cycle at 30°C. Make sure to use a detergent without bleach to prevent the colors from fading.
Fabrics that you produce yourself can usually be ironed on level 1 up to 110°C and preferably without steam. To maintain the fit and quality in the long term, we recommend that you avoid using a dryer for handmade items.
The exact specific care instructions can be found on the respective product page for each fabric.
